The Diamond House

Set on a quiet, tree-lined hill, this 1940s Tudor cottage had become overgrown, outdated, and fragmented by decades of incremental changes. A comprehensive renovation reorganized the house around a clearer distinction between public and private spaces, relocating the kitchen, bedrooms, and baths and rerouting the staircase to improve the flow of the home. A former side porch became a cozy dining room, while two new bathrooms allow every bedroom to function as a private suite. The house was fully updated with new systems, windows, roofing, and insulation, while original hardwoods, doors, and siding were restored and retained. Outside, a flagstone patio, native plantings, stepping-stone paths, and cedar greenhouse extend the home into the landscape. What might have been a tear-down was instead renewed for another generation of living.
